Travis Robinson, P.E., M.B.A.
Travis began working at a civil engineering company while still in high school in 1997. His first project was helping produce construction plans for a water main extension to service some residential lots. From that small beginning, Travis continued gaining various types of experience around land development. He joined the survey crews to gather topographic data in the field, draw the plat, produce construction plans, and then assist in the construction staking on projects. Working at a small, yet busy civil engineering firm gave Travis the full picture of the process of land development engineering.
Over the next 17 years, Travis purposefully gained experience in civil engineering design, project management, construction means and methods, platting, and land entitlements. With a wealth of technical knowledge and experience, Travis brings a high level of insight to land development projects.
While Travis leads with a vision and strategy for successfully completing all projects, the efforts of the Optimized Engineering team is just as important. The Optimized Engineering team includes:
Senior Designer and Production Manager
As Production Manager, Senior CAD Designer, and CAD manager, TJ has accumulated 18+ years of design experience, covering well over 100 projects. His project expertise includes designing streets, site grading, drainage facilities, water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, schools, retail, hotels, churches, commercial offices, single-family subdivisions, apartments, condominiums, smart-housing developments, and military housing.
While some may be satisfied with just getting by, TJ has always delved deeper into the tools of the trade such as AutoCAD Land Desktop, Civil 3D, Hydraflow, Bentley StormCAD, HEC RAS, Excel, and SiteOps. He has attended Autodesk University to get in-depth and specialized training as well as many hours of webinars, blogs and videos to polish his skills. Through his consistent pursuit of improvement, he has mastered the software in unique ways that have positioned him to effectively supervise and train numerous CAD technicians over his career. TJ’s attention to detail as an accomplished CAD manager has led to creating standards and processes and overseeing their successful implementation and maintenance.
“I believe in using the best tool for the job at hand. Learn how to use it properly and maximize its potential. Develop a streamlined process and show others how to use it. I am always on the lookout for a better way; one that is faster and more accurate, while still cost-effective.” – TJ Brace
